Javier Smith
TIBA International Business Consultant
Javier is a truly international consultant. He has been involved in international trade most of his career, first as founder of trading companies, then participating in international nonprofit organizations and working for government institutions.
Javier has also been involved in importing and exporting operations in the United States and Mexico, dealing with retail marketing, wholesale, e-commerce, manufacturing and software development. Javier also has experience in outsourcing product manufacturing in the US, China and Mexico, selecting distribution channels, logistics, warehousing, EDI(Electronic Data Input) and transportation.
During his career, Javier has established important relationships with government officials, Chambers of Commerce, universities, small business and NGO’s. Furthermore, Javier co-founded the program “How to do Business in the US” in conjunction with UTSA’s International Trade Center and the Mexico Center, and is former president of the Mexican Business Association in San Antonio, Texas.
Javier joined the International Trade Center in 2011 and is directly involved in the Texas International Business Accelerator (TIBA) program.
Javier holds degrees in business from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), McGill University in Montreal, Canada and degree in Economics from the Institut Internationale D’Administration Publique in Paris, France.
